Netflix recently premiered “Barry,” a film based on the early life of President Barack Obama. The story-line focuses on President Obama as a 20 year old student at Columbia University in 1981. The movie touches on his struggle with racial identity and it sheds lights on the relationship he had with his father, who left their home when Obama was three. The film also briefly highlights some of the racism that he experienced as a student on campus.

The movie was directed by Vikram Gandhi and written by Adam Mansbach. Actor Devon Terrell who looks very similar to President Obama when he was younger portrays him in the film.

As many people are preparing to say goodbye to President Obama in a few weeks, “Barry” makes a nice commemorative gift  for the American people who loved and embraced him as the first African American president of the United States.

I will definitely miss him!
