The iconic 1974 film “Foxy Brown” will soon be made into a series on Hulu. Meagan Good has been cast to play the lead role of Foxy Brown, and she will also help executive produce the series with husband DeVon Franklin and Tony Krantz. The series will be written by Malcolm Spellman(Empire) and Ben Watkins(Burn Notice). The show is said to be a modern day version of the original film.
The original film starred actress Pam Grier who portrayed the character Foxy Brown. In the movie Grier sought revenge against the man who killed her boyfriend. The film “Foxy Brown” was a huge box office success back in the 70s bringing in over 2.4 million dollars. It was highly recognized for being one of the first films during that time period to depict an independent, strong and powerful African American woman.
Many people have criticized the decision to cast Good for the lead role stating that she isn’t the right choice. I’m definitely interested to see how she will perform in the role and I think viewers should give her a chance to prove herself.
What are your thoughts on the upcoming series?!
