Would you date someone who makes less money than you?……..Who should pay on the first date?……. When should finances be discussed in a relationship?…. These are some of the questions that were addressed at the “For The Love Of Money” conversation party held last weekend at 7th Restaurant Lounge in Charlotte. The event was hosted by Russell Q. Stewart, author and CEO of Merrick Financial Group, and Troy Spry, a renown relationship coach and author. The purpose of the event was to engage people in discussions about how finances can affect relationships.
The conversation party kicked off with music and icebreaker games then later transitioned into discussions about dating, relationships and finances. The event was very interactive and engaging! Attendees were able to share their perspectives on various topics while the hosts moderated.
I’m not a big talker so I mostly sat back and listened but it was very interesting to hear the different opinions from both men and women. One topic in particular that had mixed responses from the crowd was the subject about who should pay on the first date. I personally believe that the person who asks for the date should be responsible for the tab… LOL!
Overall I had a great time at the event. Hopefully this will be the first of many more to come. I would definitely encourage anyone looking for relationship advice or finance tips to check out the next one!
