Many people (mostly white) thought her performance was offensive and some even called it racist which led to an attempted boycott of the singer\u2019s newly announced Formation tour.<\/p>\n<p>Before the hype of Beyonce\u2019s performance could die down Kendrick Lamar set the media on fire once again with his performance at the 2016 Grammys.\u00a0 His performance was an artistic and powerful tribute to black men.<\/p>\n<p>In the beginning of his performance he marched out on stage shackled in chains with other black men wearing prison uniforms. He approached the microphone and performed his single \u201cBlacker The Berry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>\u201cYou hate me don\u2019t you?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>\u201cYou hate my people, your plan is to terminate my culture\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thedoublescoop2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/kendrick-prison-men.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1480\" src=\"http:\/\/thedoublescoop2.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/kendrick-prison-men-300x200.jpg\" alt=\" (Photo by Kevork Djansezian\/Getty Images for NARAS)\" width=\"335\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thedoublescoop2.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/kendrick-prison-men-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thedoublescoop2.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/kendrick-prison-men.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 335px) 85vw, 335px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was obvious who Lamar was speaking to in his lyrics hence the awkward and uncomfortable expressions by the mostly white audience.<\/p>\n<p>Lamar ended his performance with his single \u201cWe Gone Be Alright\u201d accompanied by dancers dressed in traditional African attire sending the message that despite the hardships that black people have been through we will still persevere.<\/p>\n<p>As a black woman I see nothing wrong with black people embracing our culture.
